PBR MEETING RECOMMENDATIONS

WORKSHOP ON THE FORMATION OF BMC AND PBR FOR THE CONSERVATION OF BIOLOGICAL RESOURCES PROGRAMME
NATIONAL BIODIVERSITY AUTHORITY CHENNAI

RECOMMENDATIONS
 
1. The formats of methodology and PBR developed by West Bengal, Kerala and Madhaya Pradesh and IISC can be compared and consolidated in a single version. (Target: March 2006)
   
2. During 1st February 2006 draft be circulated and an interactive workshop to be organized in the 3rd week of February to finalise the manual.
   
3. An Expert committee set up by NBA should examine the formation of model PBR database.(EC on database will decide)
   
4.  NBA would undertake funding for translation of the book written in Malayalam in English “Jaiva Vaividhyam” by MP Nayar and Dr Pushpangadhan. (Target 30th November 2005 in MS form)
   
5. NBA would give a funding formulating the Biodiversity Register undertaken by the sacred groves in the Alapuzha. (Including a Database and elaborate view in sacred groves).
   
6. NBA would undertake funding for translation of the book written in Bengali on Methodology for preparation of PBR written by Dr AK Ghosh and Dr SK Das. (Target 30th November 2005 MS form).
   
7. Four Model PBR documents will be presented by Madhya Pradesh during February 2006 3rd week meeting.
   
8. Two models one on School level and the other on the elaborate model from Karnataka will be presented by Prof Madhav Gadgil during February 2006 3rd meeting. The model should be circulated in the first week of February.
   
9. Model PBR will be presented by Prof MK Prasad from ERNAKULAM District.
   
10. A model PBR from West Bengal will be presented by DR A K Ghosh.
   
11. NBA may take up with Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi linking Environmental Education activities with process of implementation of Biodiversity Act 2002. (Dr Kesav Desi Raju, JS School Education, MHRD, New Delhi)
   
12. NBA will support preparation of CDs to promote Biodiversity literacy.
   
13. Involvement of Taxonomists from the region in preparation of PBR may be ensured for validation of data.
